Trans*cending Gender Artist Talk with Gavin Rouille & Rhys Harper

November 9, 2014 - 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Join us for a stimulating evening with our Trans*cending Gender artists!

Gavin Rouille, (pictured left) a transgender artist and activist, was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1987. He received a BFA from Maine College of Art in 2009, and an MFA from Indiana University in 2014. Rouille has exhibited works in the US and in Mongolia, Ireland, Estonia, and Germany. His work was selected and shown in the Portland Museum of Art’s Biennial in 2011, and several works are held in the permanent collection of the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction. Rouille currently lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Syracuse-based Rhys Harper (pictured right) is a photographer and the creator of the Transcending Gender Project. He recently drove more than 7,000 miles to photograph transgender and gender non-conforming humans across the United States to portray them in an authentic way, and then have people see the photographs so they could see beyond just gender; to show that what they have to offer the world transcends the boundaries of gender. You can visit the project website at http://www.transcendinggender.org/

Light refreshments will be provided. Free to the Public.
