The Silver Nightingale in Concert

Flautist, vocalist and composer Laura Sue, the Silver Nightingale  returns to Syracuse this May to perform at two very special events.  Saturday evening, May 5, 2012, she will present a gallery concert of  environmentally-themed music and poetry at ArtRage Gallery. This  evocative concert will represent works from throughout Laura Sue’s  eclectic musical career, as well as her long-term environmental activism. Laura Sue will perform music including her original
composition “Birds of Wind and Water” and Japanese traditional song “Sakura”, as well as her poems “Recycle Nuclear Plants!” and “Waiting for Katrina”.

Throughout her career, Laura Sue has written and performed music and poetry embodying themes and topics from nature. She’s been an environmentalist and No Nukes activist since high school, playing at countless environmental events from New York City to Diablo Canyon, and helping organize the first Earth Day celebration in Syracuse along with many other events.

While in Syracuse, Laura Sue will also be performing at the PeaceSongsCNY CD Release Party on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Metro Lounge from 5 – 9 PM. Her song “No Nukes Swing” will be one of 19 songs appearing on the CD, which celebrates Syracuse Peace Council’s 75th Anniversary.
