ICAN of Syracuse

The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). In 1992, the Cesarean Prevention Movement (CPM), formed in Syracuse, NY by Liz Belden Handler and Esther Zorn, changed its name to International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) and was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in the state of New York in the USA.

ICAN of  Syracuse holds monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at the Women’s Information Center in Syracuse from 6:30-8:30pm.
