SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN (1952) (103min)
January 31, 2014 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
The weather outside may be frightful but inside ArtRage it’s delightful with our three-week look at “The Hollywood Musical” 1930s – 1950s
Tinseltown,1927. Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are the darlings of the silent screen. But in real life sensible Don can’t stand birdbrain Lina who’s sure their studio romance is genuine. Meanwhile an aspiring actress steals Don’s heart, and even as Lina starts screaming, movies start to talk. Now the studio converts the latest Lockwood/Lamont opus to sound — and things go hilariously awry. You’ll see some of the most robust and clever dance sequences ever filmed amid the most riotous Jazz Age shenanigans.
“A transcendent experience … no movie musical is more fun, and few remain as fresh over the years!” — Roger Ebert.
