chuniece patterson

Late last year, 21 year-old Chuniece Patterson was picked up on a bench warrant and taken to the Justice Center in Syracuse. Less than 48 hours later she died after being consistently denied medical treatment. The state’s corrections department plans to discipline the jail nurse and deputy involved.

The problem is that Patterson’s death is not an isolated incident. As an increasing number of workers and poor people are being arrested and locked up for petty crimes, instances of assault, abuse, torture, and murder at the hands of the police and prison guards are increasing. Join us to build a movement to demand justice for Chuniece Patterson and all victims of the racist prison-industrial complex.

George Jackson. Aug. 21, 2009, marks the 38th anniversary of the rebellion at San Quentin prison that ended in the assassination of Comrade George Jackson. Three guards and two inmates also died in the course of the rebellion—which came to be known as Black August—inside the Adjustment Center at the prison near San Francisco. Join us as we honor the legacy of his Black Panther and prison revolutionary.
