Lodi Laundromat Artist Talk!
June 8, 2011 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Sarah Averill’s photographs of the vast array of cultures represented on the Syracuse Northside, were first seen in Lodi Laundromat for just one evening earlier this month. Now, the portraits are on exhibit for a longer stretch at ArtRage. The more than 70 sepia-tone photos will be on display through June 30. Averill is a medical resident at St. Joseph’s Hospital Center who spent 4 years building trust and relationships with the people she worked with in the Northside neighborhood. Once she decided to photograph them, she found many willing subjects. The photos of our neighbors have attracted dozens to stand at the ArtRage windows to “see themselves in others”. Plan on attending ArtRage to hear Sarah talk about this amazing project!
