Kambuyu Marimba Ensemble
Kambuyu Marimba Ensemble of Syracuse has been together since 2004. The roots of the music they play comes from Shona people of Zimbabwe. Many of the tunes they play originate in traditional mbira songs and melodies of that region.

Pepper and Sassafras
Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, grand prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, teams up with multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Wendy Sassafras Ramsay in this dynamic Americana duo.The duo was finalist for Best Duo at FreshGrass. They’ve performed widely in the Northeast at venues including Club Passim, Ripton Community Coffee House (Vermont), Stolz Listening Room (Maryland), and the Turtle Hill Folk Festival.

Actor & Activist Karin Franklin-King

Karin Franklin-King is a local broadcast pioneer.  As part of a long career in public broadcasting, in 1976 Karin became host and producer of WNYS-TV’s (Channel 9) “Open Line.” She was the only female talk show host in the country riding the wave of daytime talk. That “wave” brought big-name celebrity interviews  – including Harry Belafonte, Sugar Ray Leonard, Dr. Joyce Brothers and Phil Donahue. “The show was not just about entertainers,” she explained. “It dealt with serious issues, including poverty, child abuse, mental health, job layoffs and much more.”

Over the years she also had many roles as a stage actress and singer with the Contemporary Theatre of Syracuse, Paul Robeson Performing Company and other theater groups in the area.
