Jill Strachan will read selections from two of her books,Waterfalls, The Moon and Sensible Shoes – One Lesbian Life and her latest, Boundaries Borders Crossings-One Lesbian Life 2.0 which tracks the experience of one Lesbian life, the shared realities of Third Culture Kids (TKCs), and the enduring impact of a world perspective. Jill P. Strachan tackles themes of universal social concern and social change with passion and ironic wit. Using archival letters and journals, her memoir openly chronicles the process of adapting to Lesbian culture in the 1980s and coping during the AIDS crisis in the United States. The reader will discover the twenty-two essays are platforms for reflections on gender, sexuality, independence, family influence, and multi-cultural learning.

Jill P. Strachan was born in Athens, Greece and spent her childhood accompanying her US Foreign Service parents to posts in Pakistan, Egypt, and Sri Lanka. As a Third Culture Kid (TCK) she enjoys travelling and learning about other people. She received her PhD in the history of religion from Syracuse University in 1982. Her academic experience folded into a career in the private sector working with nonprofit organizations, including the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop in Washington, DC. In 2017, she willingly gave up the anxieties of grant writing for the pleasures of creating nonfiction, hanging out with her partner, playing tennis, walking her dog, and singing in Not What You Think, a cappella group offering songs of social justice and humor. Her first book Waterfalls, The Moon and Sensible Shoes – One Lesbian Life was published in 2021. Boundaries Borders Crossings-One Lesbian Life 2.0 is recently published.
