Fracking Ban – meeting & film!

December 6, 2012 - 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Meeting at 7pm ~  Film Screening at 8:30pm (74 min)

Frack Action, Shaleshock CNY and New Yorkers Against Fracking are hosting an organizing meeting for a statewide ban followed by a special sneak peek screening of the new documentary, Dear Governor Cuomo! Watch the trailer here. http://beforeitsnews.com/outdoors/2012/11/video-trailer-for-dear-governor-cuomo-2447224.html

At the meeting we will be giving an update on the environmental review (SGEIS) process, the health review and the regulations process. While the environmental review and the health review have not been completed, revised regulations for fracking were released last night in order to comply with state law requirements for a 90 day extension filed by the DEC. Putting out regulations before health and environmental impacts have been assessed is backwards. The Governor and the DEC are playing politics with the safety of our lives and as a movement we must respond.

We will go into more detail about what all of this means and what actions we need to take over the next critical 90 days. We will also have an interactive break out session to go over whats been working in Onondaga County, where we can build and what are the next steps moving forward.

Following the meeting will be a special sneak peek screening of the documentary, Dear Governor Cuomo! This amazing new film by award winning journalist and filmmaker, Jon Bowermaster documents the May 2012 rally and concert to ban fracking in Albany, NY which helped to launch the New Yorkers Against Fracking coalition. The film features music from many artists including Natalie Merchant, the Horse Flies, Medeski Martin & Wood, Citizen Cope and powerful speeches from New York activists, author and biologist, Sandra Steingraber, and Actor, Mark Ruffalo.

Free to the Public. Light snacks and refreshments will be available. For more info www.FrackAction.com
