YOU CAN ASK THE SUN: Fundraiser for Gazan poet and SU alum Mosab Abu Toha

Sun Cinema and Engaged Humanities Network invite you to a special event of film screenings, poetry readings, and a listening session of Palestinian sounds. The fundraiser You Can Ask the Sun will support Gazan poet and SU alum Mosab Abu Toha through sliding scale donations at the door ($10+). 

Refreshments will be served.

There are all in all eight tapes dating from 2014 to 2018, each containing footage of the Mediterranean Sea, more precisely a small section of the coast around Beirut. Three women examine the recorded images and sounds, looking for traces of what they call “apparitions”.

About Mosab Abu Toha
Mosab Abu Toha is a Palestinian poet, scholar, and librarian from the Gaza Strip. His debut book of poetry, Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear won the Palestine Book Award and an American Book Award. It was also a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Walcott Poetry Prize. Mosab Abu Toha earned an MFA through Syracuse University’s graduate program in 2023 and is a contributor to The New Yorker.
