Stories from Stories: Object-based Storytelling with the Narratio Fellowship

February 15, 2026 - 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In this interactive workshop, Narratio Fellows will share poetry and short films to demonstrate methods of object-based storytelling. In collaboration with the Teens with Movie Camera team, they will invite workshop participants to experiment with these methods through engagement with the pieces in Visions of Hope. Together, facilitators and attendees will create and share original poetry, video, drawings, etc. inspired by the exhibition.

The Narratio Fellowship connects artists to cohorts of resettled refugee youth fellows in Syracuse to explore and represent the full range of their experiences through storytelling. This year’s fellowship cohort is comprised of fellows from around the world who are also current students or alumni of Syracuse City Schools. In addition to composing new poetry through our regular collaboration with the Metropolitan Museum Art, this year’s cohort has been working with Narratio Artist in Residence, Rayan Mohamed to create short video poems. Mohamed is a filmmaker and writer and a 2020 Narratio Fellowship alum.
