A musical biography about an Entertainer who comes of age during the AIDS Crisis.

The title of the film is from the name of the cabaret show that was developed in 1987. Lee Byar had come to New York, to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, to pursue his dream of being an actor. As his career begins, so did the AIDS Crisis. Friends and contacts he had made were being lost to a mysterious and horrible disease.


STAR CRAZY! The Under the Rainbow Cabaret, is the story of his journey and the impact that AIDS and the loss of his friends had on him. The story line of this film is driven by original VHS tapes, as well as photographs and flyers of his cabaret show for 26 years. Presented by CNY Pride.
