Human Slavery Posters

October 11, 2012 to November 5, 2012 - 2:00 PM to 2:00 PM

CNY Freedom Makers invited artists and designers to partner with them by employing the powerful medium of the poster to raise awareness and incite community action. In September, they held an open call for artists, inviting them to create poster art tackling the issue of human trafficking.   The submitted posters are on display in the windows of ArtRage Gallery until November 5, 2012

Syracuse has a long history and legacy as a community that has stood against slavery as far back as the 1800’s through our participation in the Underground Railroad and the Jerry Rescue. CNY Freedom Makers is calling on Central New Yorkers to once again band together and become Freedom Makers as they partner with International Justice Mission (IJM) a world renowned human rights agency. Schools, organizations, businesses, churches and individuals are joining CNY Freedom Makers to raise awareness about the human trafficking industry and to provide funding for a comprehensive justice initiative through IJM in a community in Southeast Asia where sex trafficking is rampant. Using the power and medium of art join us in creating awareness, offering hope and inspiration to pursue justice on behalf of those enslaved.   For more information: visit:  www.cnyfreedommakers.org
