The quarterly general meeting of the Syracuse and CNY chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. Updates on ongoing projects, a panel, any business, food and opportunities to get to know other socialists.
Open to the general public. Voting is limited to current members.
Special Topic: Panel discussion on Socialism and Disability
Keith Rosenthal is a socialist writer and activist. He will kick things off by bringing some central themes from his recent edited volume, Capitalism and Disability: Selected Writings by Marta Russell (Haymarket, 2019). Then, each panelist will bring unique perspectives on the socialist view of disability. Their contributions will include analysis of marginalization, invisible disability, and what it means to move “beyond compliance.” We will open the floor for conversation to assess major institutions in Syracuse and discuss ways to increase collaboration among all groups/organizations in the local disability rights community.
