Art4Peace
The Military Alternatives Education Project (MAEP) is holding a Poetry and Poster contest with the theme “How can we build peace?”. We welcome submissions from high school students in the Syracuse City School District. Posters must be on 11×17 white paper, and poems must be less than 50 lines and typed. All work must be the student’s original work.
Deadline for submissions is April 1, 2010. All poster submissions will be displayed at the Artrage Gallery for an event on Thursday, April 29.  Students submitting poems will be invited to read at the event. Winners in each category will receive prizes and have their work published in the Peace Newsletter.

The Military Alternatives Education Project is a coalition of local peace and justice organizations. We work in schools and in the community to educate students and youth about the fine print of military enlistment, to provide truth in recruiting practices, and to promote alternatives to the military after high school.
Please include name, grade, school, age and phone number with your submission.

For more information about MAEP and the art contest, please contact Andy or Jessica at the Syracuse Peace Council: spc@peacecouncil.net or 472-5478.
