THE DRESSER (1983)

March 11, 2017 - 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM

the dresser

Directed by Peter Yates with Albert Finney , Tom Courtenay

This film explores the delicate bond between “Sir,” a boozy, badly aging actor and manager of a Shakespearean travel company and the loyal personal assistant who struggles to keep him from falling apart.

Offering a wonderful behind-the-scenes look at theater life, the film brims with backstage lore, theatrical detail, and stage bound superstition. But the heart  of it all is a deeply felt story of a human relationship on the brink of crisis. The two leads — Albert Finney as “Sir” and Tom Courtenay as “the dresser” — give electrifying Oscar-nominated performances.

“Brilliant, illuminating and moving” — IMDB.
