John Amidon speaking at ArtRage

July 23, 2019 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

CALLING OUT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY: The Peoples’ Indictment of the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).

America is in crisis. A new nuclear arms race has begun with low yield “usable” nuclear weapons rolling off the production line. Secret and illegal plutonium shipments are crossing the nation to the NNSS — generating fear and distrust in Nevada.

As the U.S. Department of Energy continues its illegal occupation of Western Shoshone land, environmental racism and the exploitation of these indigenous people continues unabated.

Just back from the NNSS and the Pahrump Jail, John Amidon will discuss the April 2019 Nevada Desert Experience Sacred Peace Walk and his arrest at the Nevada National Security Site.

Former U.S. Marine and long-time SOA Watch activist, John is a Nevada Desert Experience organizer, Veteran for Peace, and co-founder of the Upstate Drone Action Coalition. Here in New York John is the founder and co-facilitator of the annual Kateri Tekawitha Interfaith Peace Conference and long-time attender of the Albany Friends Meeting.

Appearing with John will be Sheri Bauer singing two songs during the program, “The Noble Cause” and “Lift Up the Pentagon”. Sheri is a musician singer and song writer who also was at the Nevada National Security Site with John.

This event is Free and Open to the Public. Sponsored by the Beyond War & Militarism a committee of the Syracuse Peace Council.
