A LETTER TO THREE WIVES -1949

April 27, 2018 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Boarding a river boat day cruise, three wives receive a letter from a fourth close friend, saying she’s run off with one of their husbands. But she won’t tell which one!  In this forgotten screen classic, Joseph Mankiewicz (All About Eve)  follows the inner turmoil of each woman, afloat,  as she reviews her marriage to date.  He casts a razor sharp eye at suburban mores, the imperfection of relationships, and the changing role of women, in a  film that  “remains poignant and universal, and could take place anytime” (examiner.com). And wait til you see  young Kirk Douglas as one of the suspect hubbies.

“Emotionally intense yet effervescently comic, and with a magical, metaphysical ending” — New Yorker
